ABOUT

Growing up in a small city which had really nothing else to offer than a small skate park, I soon realized that while my friends were focused on improving their BMX and skating skills, I’d rather wanted to catch their progress and stunts with my camera. I threw my bike aside (only metaphorically though, I still have it) and dived deep into the world of photography and its technical variety.

Over time, catching moments turned into the desire to capture movement – so this time I threw my camera away (again, metaphorically of course, we all know the value of a Nikon), grabbed a video camera and started learning how to bring pictures to life.

The years as a 1st AC in the commercial field have given me the technical knowledge that I needed to become a DOP who thrives on making the impossible work and understanding the camera as a tool that catches not only the emotions but the stories behind them.

Besides the productions of commercials and music videos, I’m still hyped about joining my friends at the skate park – whether in Cologne, Berlin or Barcelona – experimenting with new ideas and angles. My friends are my constant source of inspiration for over 12 years, fueling my creativity.
